Berliner Senioren-EM 2013 (Update)

Wie der BSV meldet, sind bei der Offenen Berliner Senioren-Einzelmeisterschaft 2013 nur noch Plätze auf der Warteliste verfügbar. Das Turnier findet vom 1. bis 9. Februar in Köpenick-Oberschöneweide statt. Teilnahmeberechtigt sind Frauen ab Jahrgang 1958 sowie Männer ab Jahrgang 1953. In der aktualisierten Teilnehmerliste sind zwei Starter der Schachfreunde Berlin zu finden.

BSEM used to be ELO as well as DWZ rated tournament.
Only in 2012 it was NOT. Now in 2013 it is DWZ and ELO again.
Looking for a fresh start at the age of 60 I participated last year 2012 in BSEM. But something went wrong with ELO rating for that tournament. We were told during the tournament that it will be ELO rated, as it is mere 1 Euro per player, and in any case people from clubs already paid 10 Euros participation fee.
However, after the tournament I received defense by one of the TD (tournament directors) that it wasn’t the case, that tournament has to be announced with FIDE in advance, etc. etc.
I write this in hope that tournaments can be valuated in arrears and ELO rated. I don’t see the logical reason why not, especially since BSEM tournament is known to FIDE and it make no sense to be rated in 2010, 2011 and 2013 but not 2012.
In addition to, with my participation SFB would also feature for un-official placement of clubs in 2012, but the organizers didn’t bother to include myself as I was a newcomer, I just became the member of SFB 1903.
I don’t think that it is beneficial for anyone to take part in a tournament that is not ELO rated. The ambiguity of TWO systems, which some countries insist on having is an issue for much more serious discussion, but it relates to this and similar tournaments. May I say so-popular rapid as well, since we know now that there IS ELO rating for rapid tournaments as well.

Freut mich, danke, aber die Seite ist die des Clubs, und je selbstverständlicher die Beteiligung, desto besser für die Seite. Am liebsten wäre es mir, wenn sie dereinst ganz ohne mein Zutun brummt, und so wie es aussieht, ist sie in Teilen schon auf einem guten Weg.

Dank F.O. ist der Link zur Teilnehmerliste der BSEM aktualisiert worden. Stand 2. Jan. sind demnach zwei Vereinsmitglieder für diese Berliner Einzelmeisterschaft angemeldet. Neben Peter Baranowsky aus der 4. BMM-Mannschaft (z.Z. Setzlistenplatz 22) ist noch Siegfried Prix aus der 5. Mannschaft der Schachfreunde Berlin (z.Z. Setzlisteplatz 55) dabei. Insgesamt sind aktuell 101 der 120 möglichen Startplätze vergeben.
